“I was privileged to be born into a family with strong and progressive women. My grandmothers had received a university education, and my mom holds Ph.D. in Engineering and is a renowned university professor. My grandmother Luiza Kharatyan became a top manager in a big manufacturing firm in her late 30s.
Sadly, however, this was not the case for many girls of my grandmother’s, my mom’s, and even my age. Even in the 21st century, with women going to universities and becoming presidents, we still deal with so much inequality and many women face feeling incapable of following their dreams.
So I have kept asking myself the same question over and over again. WHY?
The search for an answer gave birth to the Fempower initiative, as I figured out that men do not stop us from becoming top executives, startup founders, politicians, or world leaders. We do!
Women do not feel empowered enough to overcome fear and stereotypes, think outside of the box they were put in as girls, and believe in themselves.
With Fempower now live, I believe, as female leaders we have a mission. Because every small effort, every hour spent in mentorship, every referral made within our networks, every piece of advice, and every dollar spent counts.”
